How You Can Help

Donate:
Cash donations are always welcome, particularly during this expansion phase when every new program requires a new staffer and a new salary. Donations may go to either the general operating fund or to sponsor a particular program. MEN is a 501(c)3 organization and your donations may be tax-deductible. Volunteer:
We offer several opportunities for men to participate according to their interest and availability:
In-School Mentors spend one hour a week with a mentee (typically of elementary school age) in need of an adult friend and role model. Sometimes tutoring, sometimes shooting hoops or surfing the web - it’s simply about the magic that occurs between a boy and a caring adult male.
Support Group Mentors help staff weekly two-hour support groups led by MEN staff or trained volunteer facilitators. This is ideal for volunteers who are drawn to working with teens and young adults.
Activities Program Mentors can help with occasional field trips or be part of the summer program - an opportunity for men with tighter time constraints or a preference for sports and outdoor activities.
Fatherhood Program Mentors are veteran fathers who pair up with young dads or fathers-to-be, offering their experience and guidance during the twelve-week program.

Media Campaign:
Appear in a Taos News ad with friends, associates, or family - deepen your own commitment to nonviolence and encourage others as well! You may also record a radio spot promoting a current MEN project or message.

Network:
With our eye on national outreach in 2011, we are actively seeking to expand the circle of MEN to partners, donors and national foundations.

Women:
Though MEN is conducting much-needed “men’s work,” we are fundamentally committed to the well-being of women, and to ending violence against women. We are proud of the many partnerships we already share with female counselors, educators, donors and social services personnel. We value the input of women and ask you to encourage your menfolk to participate, give us your ideas, and tell us how we’re doing! Read more about the role of women.
